ABOUT

The Viking Surgeons​

We are an association of Remote and Rural Surgeons working in Rural General Hospitals in Highlands and Islands of Scotland, rural areas of N Ireland, Isle of Man and Iceland. 
Membership has also included surgeons from the Faroes and coastal areas of England in the past and is open to Remote and Rural surgeons in any geographical location that the Vikings reached! ​

Orthopaedic Trauma

Fracture manipulation under anesthetic, reduction of dislocations, K-wiring, internal fixation of common fractures, hip fracture surgery.

Urology

From flexible cystoscopy and transrectal ultrasound and biopsy of prostate, through  rigid cystoscopy and optical urethrotomy, to  transurethral bladder tumour resection and  prostatectomy

Stabilization and Transfer

Patients with multiple injuries from remote locations, boats or oil rigs may undergo initial stabilization before transfer to a designated trauma unit
